What exactly does HOHCVC do?

We perform minor home repairs for veterans and their spouses, or surviving spouse. Volunteer groups in our community do the work while we provide the funding. This provides corporate, civic, and others an opportunity to give back to our veterans who have given so much, and also provides an opportunity for team building.

How Can I Volunteer?
Go to www.houseofheroescvc.volunteerhub.com and review the events that are posted. Contact our office if there is a particular event that you are interested in.
How Old Do You Have to be to Work on a HOH House?
Typically we ask for volunteers ages 18 and up, however, we do accept ages 14-17 with adult supervision. Some local High Schools are offering community service opportunities to select students. Those are approved prior to volunteering.
What is the Veterans Rehabilitation Program offered through HOHCVC?

The Veterans Rehabilitation Program provides funds to qualifying veterans to assist in rehabilitation of currently owner-occupied homes. In general, funding may be used for home repairs or improvements that make the home more handicap accessible or more energy efficient. Unlike our regular HOHCVC program, this work is performed by our approved contractor.

How can our company sponsor a house?

A: Just contact our office and we will give you information about homes in need of repairs and let your group select a home and family based on the repairs needed for the home.

Your team will select a Team Captain that will meet the homeowner and review the home and write down all of the repairs needed and evaluate the cost involved. Some are light repairs, or medium repairs, but some homes need major repairs and may require more than one work day to accomplish the tasks.

If I want to make a donation, where should I send it?

A: Local Monetary donations can be made through our website (just click the “donate” button in the top right corner), or you can call our office to make a donation by credit card. We also accept donations made by check*. Those can be mailed to:  House of Heroes, Chattahoochee Valley Chapter, Inc. 1225 Webster Ave, Ste B, Columbus GA 31901

Our sports team would like to get involved in your organization and volunteer, but we do not have the money to sponsor a house. How can we help?

We would like to offer an opportunity for your group to work on a house. If you do not have the money to sponsor a house, just let our Executive Director know and she will help you with your volunteer efforts.

In the mean time, you can advocate for our organization by doing fundraisers throughout the next year so that you can sponsor a house the following year.
